Hey Cutie pie!
Do you start a brand new rewatch in September or do you, like me, watch the show all year long without interruption? 😋
In any case, I hope you enjoy those seasonal emails I send! They’re quite specific to holidays or seasons we’re in… it might not be we’re your at, right this minute. But if you’ve seen the show enough, it won’t matter if you interrupt your rewatch to organize a fun party around a specific episode, will it? 🥳🤩
So this week, we’re planning our very own Stars Hollow End of Summer Madness Festival!
Let’s shall! 🥨🍻
🎶 Play this while you read:
When to celebrate:
First Friday of September
Episode to watch:
3.01 - Those Lazy-Hazy-Crazy Days
Also mentioned in A Year In The Life - Summer
This place is gonna be crazy, wild – food, games, we’ve even got a band coming all the way from New York!
Decoration:
Anything summery! (sunscreen, flip-flops, patio chairs, Hawaiian necklace…)
Streamers
Tule
Colors: red, blue, white, yellow
Carousel horses
A great banner
Balloons
Patio-style, coloured light streamers
Striped circus tent pattern
Barber inspired red and white decorations
Flowers
+++ If you have:
a popcorn machine
popcorn containers
a cupcake stand
anything that reminds you of the circus or carousel aesthetic
striped straws
Or a colourful party backdrop...
You should be able to decorate pretty well! No need to spend money for this!
I organized a End of Summer Madness Festival at home once. Here’s what it looked like: 🤩🍿🍻🏖️
For example, I used:
striped sheets
towels of the right colours (on the chairs!)
artificial flowers and anything that has flowers on it
a patio chair
party flower necklaces
an umbrella
flipflops
plants...
Really you can use what you already have and create a top notch festival look!
Food and drinks:
Pretzels 🥨
Soda
Beer 🍻
Ice Cream
Pastries
Snow Cones
Cheese Sticks
Hot Dog 🌭
Cotton Candy
Popcorn 🍿
Punch or Sangria
Popcorn cupcakes recipe:
You'll need:
Cupcake mix
Vanilla or cream cheese frosting
Mini marshmallows
Yellow food coloring
Water
Small paintbrush
Cupcake wrapper (print it here!)
1. Any cupcake recipe will do!
2. Frost the cupcakes with vanilla or cream cheese frosting.
3. Twist the mini marshmallows so that they look like a piece of popcorn.
4. Cover all the frosting with marshmallows.
5. Mix a few drops of yellow food coloring with some water. This will be the "butter" for your popcorn.
6. Using a new, small paintbrush, paint the marshmallows with the yellow food coloring/water mixture. You'll want to leave some white spots so it looks like real popcorn.
7. Slip the cupcakes in the popcorn cupcake wrapper and put them on display.

Activities:
Choir show (band from New York!)
Photo stand-ins
Flower stand
Telescope
Tap dancing show
Mosh pit, ahah!
To recreate the festival:
1. Choose what you're gonna eat among all the festival's choices.
2. Decorate and cook as you listen to Nat King Cole's album "Those Lazy-Hazy-Crazy-Days of Summer".
3. Enjoy the festival food as you watch the episodes, followed by some tap dancing!
4. Use face swapping apps, such as Reface to make believe you're taking photos behind those giant posters with holes in place of the characters' faces!
5. Watch this video and pretend you're looking through a telescope, stargazing, from the town square of Stars Hollow 🤩
Roll... out... those... lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer! Those days of soda and pretzels and beer.
Happy Summer Madness Festival Cutie pie!
