Hey Cutie pie!
I made something fun and I thought I’d share it with you:
7 playlists, each one of them inspired by one of the Gilmore girls seasons 🎶
You’ll feel like you’re watching the show as you listen. Music is such an important part of the show, you’ll feel like you’re there!
So it’s a new way to watch the show… even when you can’t watch the show! Like when you’re driving, cooking, taking a walk; now you can “watch GG” during those activities as well.
So without further ado, let’s shall! 😁
Season 1: Wholesomeness
Establishing Sam Phillips as the main music in Gilmore girls
Recurring artists like XTC and The Bangles
With a hint of the punk rock to come 🤘
And the town troubadour throughout, as if you were walking around Stars Hollow yourself ❤️
Season 2: Balance
Jess’s arrival is obvious here: if you don’t like punk rock, maybe that’s not the playlist for you 😁
A surprisingly balanced mix of punk and classic, old-timey, happy songs
Also quite romantic, surprisingly enough!
With a few edgier choices, like Björk and Grandmaster Flash! 😏
Season 3: Rebellion
Follow the girls to Boston for Sherry’s baby shower, go through the Dance Marathon, then you’ll be off to California with Jess!
Punk rock is definitely established now that Lane is in a band 🥁
Recurring artists include David Bowie and The Clash 🤘
It’s more of a rebellious playlist; less Sam Phillips, less troubadour…
Season 4: Youthful
College life! You’ll spend time in Yale doing your laundry and singing Whiffenpoof songs, then you’ll be off to Florida for a memorable Spring Break!
Sam Phillips and the troubadour are back!
Liz and Tj’s wedding has some unforgettable tunes!
A lot less punk rock now that Jess is gone 😅 It’s back to season one’s wholesomeness and Lorelai’s 80’s favorites
Season 5: Classy cool
Rory and Dean the sequel may not be a fan favorite, but it provides the playlist with satisfying guilty pleasures, like The Candy Man and Avril Lavigne 😋
We’re back to lots of classy, old-timey music mixed with a few modern cool things from Sparks and LCD Soundsystem
Movie soundtrack inspirations, from Breakfast at Tiffany’s to Pulp Fiction!
You’ll remember instantly how the season starts and ends, thanks to the first and last songs! 😮
Season 6: Hot mess
You’ll spend time at Rory’s U.S.O event, attend Lane’s rock & roll wedding and hear the messy troubadours competing for fame 🎸
Quite a bunch of random choices here; it’s hard to pinpoint a direction 😆
Recurring artists include Blondie and Sparks 🤩
Most of the songs are from the second half of the season; it’s like everything is falling apart when Lorelai and Rory aren’t talking… even the show’s music!
Season 7: Powerhouse
Much more mainstream now that the quirky Palladinos aren’t there to pick the music 😋
You’ll recognize most of the titles: it’s classics all the way!
Female representation persists, from Celine Dion to Dolly Parton!
You’ll know exactly what’s going on with the last song; that perfect choice is embedded in our heads forever! 🎶😭
Hope you like it Cutie pie! Tell me which is your favorite and the titles you would give the playlists if you had to describe them in one word.
Have fun this summer 🥰 🕶️ ☀️
Talk soon,
